Michael McNamara, PhD, CFP®
Senior Partner, Certified Financial Planner™
Over his 33 years in the industry (26 years as principal at McNamara Financial) Michael has earned a solid reputation for his ability to secure clients’ financial futures. His hard work earned him a position as one of the 25 Best Financial Planners in Massachusetts by Boston magazine in March 2006 and also one of the top 100 independent advisors in America in Rep. magazine’s August 2007 and April 2008 issues. Michael McNamara has a PhD in education from Boston College; he is also a Certified Financial Planner and Accredited Investment Fiduciary.
Michael enjoys helping clients get from point A to point B: “We help clients plan for the years to come. That usually means helping them with college financial planning, retirement planning, and insurance planning. There is a great personal satisfaction when we are successful. The fact that we are a family business and can help generations of clients is pretty cool, too!”
When Michael is not at McNamara Financial, he is involved in protecting and developing Marshfield’s public resources as Chairman for the Marshfield Waterways Committee. In his free time, he loves fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his family.
Justin McNamara is a self-proclaimed “lifer” at McNamara Financial. With a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Providence College, a Certified Financial Planner designation, and 14 years of experience in the industry, Justin simplifies the financial part of clients’ lives so they can focus on other important matters: “I help make decisions on clients’ retirement, investment strategies, insurance, etc., so that they can spend more time with their kids, concentrate on their career, or simply have peace of mind knowing they’ll be taken care of.”
Outside of McNamara Financial, Justin is a family man, spending every moment of free time with his wife, Suzanne; his children, Charlotte, Cameron and Rose; his dogs, Ollie and Lily; and his cats, Chloe and Scout. “My kids are 4, 2 and three months, and that means my hobbies are things like taking walks, going to the library, going on play dates, and playing ‘princesses’ and ‘trucks.’ Someday I’d like to add things like camping, boating, hiking, skiing, etc., but we’re not there yet!”
Alyssa McNamara Reed has a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University, a Certified Financial Planner™ designation, and a Certified in Long Term Care designation. As a female advisor in a male-dominated profession, Alyssa has a unique perspective to offer her clients. “Today, computers and outsourcing have replaced real people, and terrible customer service has become the norm,” says Alyssa. “I have spent over ten years forming client relationships, and I take pride in providing excellent service.”
At the office, Alyssa works with the other three Advisors as a team so that the clients’ needs are always met. “I am a problem solver by nature, and I get great satisfaction from helping people solve their financial problems, or at least pointing them in the right direction. I like being able to tell them ‘I’ll take care of it,’ so I can relieve them of at least one of their worries.”
When Alyssa’s not busy helping her clients at McNamara Financial, she volunteers as Treasurer of the Marshfield Chamber of Commerce. Alyssa also joined the Financial Planning Association and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce so that she can continue improving her knowledge and skills. At the end of the day, Alyssa relaxes at home with her husband, Kirk; her three daughters, Myla, Callie, and Arden; and her two Dachshunds, Trot and Brooklyn.
Kirk B. Reed graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering and a general business minor. After earning his designation as a Certified Financial Planner™, he joined his wife, Alyssa McNamara, and their family at McNamara Financial, and for the past eight years he’s been helping clients understand investments and financial planning: “When people research financial matters on their own, they can be inundated with confusing (and often incorrect) information, which makes financial planning an overwhelming and sometimes scary task, says Kirk. His mission? “I want to simplify financial planning for the client so that they can make the best decisions and feel secure knowing they’ll have the future they want.”
Kirk keeps busy outside of McNamara Financial as a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Marshfield Country Club. Most days, you can find Kirk hanging out with his three daughters Myla, Callie, and Arden; his two dogs, Trot and Brooklyn; and his wife Alyssa.
